Particle size is one of the key parameters  in the optimization technological process and it has a significant impact on the following parameters:

  •    the rheological parameters of powders
  •    content of uniformity (based on particle size decomposition)
  •    tablet hardness
  •    API dissolution rate
  •    bioavailability

Tests conducted by PozLab provide control of particle size of materials used in development or manufacturing process from early development phase through manufacturing process itself to quality control of finished product.

We offer a comprehensive analysis of particle size by laser diffraction method for various materials (raw materials, mixtures, granules) by using the Malvern Mastersizer. Our equipment enables measurements of particle size in the range of 0.02 microns to 2000 microns. The particle size analysis can be carried out by dry and wet dispersion methods. We provide also development and validation of relevant test methods.

Technical data and accessories of Malvern Mastersizer:

  •  particle size range: 0,02 µm do 2000 µm
  •  sample size min 10 mg (depending on powder fineness)
  •  dispersion units:
    • Hydro 2000 µP (wet dispersion) – it is used for particle size measurement of very small quantities of material, or when it is necessary to minimize the use of solvent – typical for particle size analysis of very expensive or toxic materials such as active pharmaceutical ingredients;
    • Hydro 2000 S (wet dispersion) – it is used for particle size measurement of small quantities of material – typical for particle size analysis of pharmaceutical raw materials, chemicals, food and emulsion;
    • Hydro Mu (wet dispersion) – it is used for particle size measurement of the materials available in large quantities – typical for particle size analysis of minerals including chemicals, foodstuffs and emulsions;
    • Scirocco 2000 (dry dispersion) – it is used for particle size measurement of powders in the dry state, especially moisture sensitive materials – typical for particle size analysis of powders, granules and mixtures
  •  spinning riffler device used for accurate sampling
  •  ultrasonic processors Sonics type VC505 for small volume applications (net power output 500 Watts, amplitude 105 µm)
